Haakon Capital was formed in 2006 with the goal of creating value-added relationships with privately owned organizations looking to grow through equity partnerships or for those companies seeking full or partial liquidity.  Our group has over 40 years of combined experience in investing and managing organizations in a fairly wide variety of fields.  Chairman, Tom Grant, has experience managing both private and publicly traded companies.   His expertise and knowledge has added substantial value to those organizations we choose to invest in.

William Thomas Grant II,
Tom Grant served as the Chief Executive Officer of LabOne, Inc. from 1995 through the sale of the company to Quest Diagnostics in 2005.  During his tenure the company grew from a market cap of less than $80 million to $934 million at the time of sale.  Prior to LabOne, Mr. Grant was the Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer at Seafield Capital Corporation, a healthcare holding company, from 1990-1995.  From 1986 to 1990, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Business Men’s Assurance Company, an insurance company.   Tom Grant received a Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Kansas and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Wharton School of Finance, University of Pennsylvania. 

William Thomas Grant III,
Bill Grant served as Vice President of Sales for LabOne from 2001 to 2005.  While at LabOne, revenues increased from $170 million to more than $500 million and earnings increased from $10 million to $75 million.  Bill was instrumental in both product development and organic growth initiatives in the clinical division.  Prior to his role as Vice President, Bill served in numerous sales positions at LabOne from 1998-2001.  Bill Grant received a Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Kansas.

C. Andrew Martin,
C. Andrew Martin has over 15 years of portfolio management and investment analysis experience. Andrew is the co-founder and managing partner of Frontier Capital Partners, who specialize in hedge fund strategies. Andrew leads several multi-strategy investment approaches combining equity trading strategies, credit, and structured transactions. Prior to joining the Frontier Family, Andrew managed the investment for high net worth individuals, corporations, and foundations for five years with Merrill Lynch. Prior to Merrill Lynch, Andrew held positions as an Equity Research Analyst , Equity Trader, and OTC Market Maker for George K. Baum & Company. Andrew received Bachelor’s degrees in both Accounting and Business Administration from the University of Kansas.

Thomas W. Pollock, MBA,                                                                                                                                                                                 Tom is currently a partner with Haakon Capital. Generating transformational growth for private equity investments, Tom's primary focus is real estate and related investments. Tom also works with Frontier Wealth Management, a regional wealth management company specializing in high net worth clientele. From 2001 to 2007, Tom was a principal partner with a commercial real estate firm specializing in tenant representation and the leasing and sales of office and retail properties. Tom has represented retail and office clients throughout the Kansas City metro area. From 1999 to 2001, Tom served as director of operations for the prestigious C-Lazy-U Ranch in Granby Colorado. From 1997 to 1999, Tom participated in numerous positions with LabOne Corporation many of which were part of an 18 month cross training program. Tom earned his MBA, and graduated with honors, from the Executive Fellows Program at Rockhurst University in the spring of 2005. Tom currently serves on the Corporation Board for the Kansas Alpha Chapter of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Tom has participated in charitable events such as the Keith Worthington Chapter for ALS, Toys For Tots, Operation Breakthrough and the Adopt A Highway Program. Tom grew up in Quincy, Illinois, and spent his college years at the University of Kansas where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in American History with a minor in Business Communications. He is a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Tom currently lives in Leawood Kansas with his wife and family
